My favorite time of year has come again, My Birthday!!!! Since we’ve had so much going on the last few months and we just moved I decided I wanted to spend a casual weekend enjoying our new city. We have a lot on the agenda starting with dinner tonight at Asuka, the new hibachi restaurant near Crocker Park and then a late showing of Dark Knight. I’m not even a big Batman/comic book fan but I’ve been really looking forward to seeing this movie. We got to see a lot of the filming during our commute to work each day in Chicago and some of it was filmed right outside my cubicle window.
Saturday we are heading downtown to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. They have exhibits right now on the Beatles, the Doors, and the new inductees so I’m looking forward to seeing what they have on Madonna & Van Halen. I’m sure this will bring up our biggest argument and a debate we even had on our wedding day, who was better David Lee Roth or Sammy Hagar?? I’m a DLR fan myself. After the Hall of Fame we are going to an early dinner at the famous Sokelowski’s University Inn (one of Kurt’s grandfather Frank’s favorite places) for an authentic German dinner. I’ve been wanting to try this place since I saw it on Food Network 3 years ago.
Then on Sunday we are taking Brownie to the Doggie Brunch at the Rocky River Wine Bar. Sunday is my actual birthday so starting off the day with mimosas on the patio with my puppy sounds great. After brunch we are meeting up with some friends at the Taste of Tremont. Tremont is a cute neighborhood close to downtown and on Sunday the will have all the local restaurants out, lots of art vendors, live music and most importantly beer tents. We are then going to a South American restaurant in the area called La Tortilla Feliz for cake and presents. I think it’s going to be a great birthday in C-Town!!
