And the Top 10 are…..

Last month, Money Magazine announced it’s annual America’s Best Places to Live. The top spot was given to Plymouth, MN. They looked at factors like economy, education, housing, taxes, employment, and overall quality of life. My hometown of Olathe, KS just missed the Top 10 and came in at #11 this year. Not bad, I was actually pretty surprised to see O-Town so high on the list. Also surprising is that not one city in the entire state of Ohio made even the Top 100. Another Top 10 list that Ohio didn’t make this year was the Fattest US States 2008. It’s good NOT to be on this list and this year all states that made the Top 10 are in the Dirty South. While Mississippi came in #1 for the third year in a row, Ohio dropped two spots this year to #17. Yeah Ohio!! Colorado repeated this year as the leanest state. These lists seem to cause some strong reactions and people take it all way too personal. I think the most controversy I’ve seen though was in June when Cleveland Magazine announced it’s Rating the Suburbs 2008. Solon took the top spot for the second year in a row. I think Bay Village came in at #11 this year but I could only find the Top 5 online. Either way, residents in C-Town had lots of opinions about how/why Cleveland Magazine made their ratings.
